One of the best things about cruising from Galveston? The re are lots of options for parking while you sail. That can lead to some deals. If you’re sailing on a week-long cruise, then you can find parking deals for as little as $92— or about $13 per day.
Compare that to ports like Miami where you can pay upwards of $28 per day to park your car.
Still, one of the secrets about saving on a cruise is that you can save on your parking if you choose a Galveston hotel that offers free parking or a cruise parking package. And even though parking in Galveston is relatively affordable, you should still take advantage of this perk if it’s offered.
Here’s how it works. To attract cruise passengers looking for a place to stay the night before their trip, many hotels will let you park your car for free (or a discount) in exchange for staying one night.
If you didn’t plan to stay in a hotel before your cruise, then it might not make sense to book one just for the parking deal. But if you wanted to stay on the island and you are driving, then you can save a decent chunk of money.
Below, we’ve rounded up a list of hotels in Galveston offering parking. We’ve also linked to a search on Kayak.com so that you can read reviews from real travelers like you and see pricing. For parking packages you may have to book through the hotel website.
It’s recommended you call the specific hotel you’re interested in to confirm the details of your parking, as they can change.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get back to my car after the cruise?
Unfortunately, many of the hotels with cruise parking don’t offer transportation to the cruise port. That means you are on your own getting from the hotel to the ship. The good news is that none of them are terribly far from the port; at most it’s about 5 miles. We’d suggest taking an Uber or a Lyft to the port. When you return from your cruise, you can get another ride back to your car. It should only run about $10 each way.
Which hotel should I stay for my cruise?
Obviously the hotel you select depends on what sort of accommodations you want. Those simply coming in for a quick stay may be just fine with cheaper hotels that still offer comfortable service. Those looking to enjoy Galveston for a couple of days may like some of the higher-end hotels. If you can afford it, you can’t go wrong with a spot like the historic Tremont House. Looking for a resort? Try Hilton Galveston Island Resort. Those looking to spend a little less would do well with something like Best Western Plus Seawall Inn and Suites, which gets high reviews and won’t break the bank.
What options are there for regular parking for a Galveston cruise?
Galveston actually offers some of the cheapest cruise parking of any port in America… but prices are ratcheting higher. For example, places like Miami charge more than $20 per day. Galveston’s official lots charge around $14… and there are some parking lots that are even cheaper. See our article for all your options for Galveston cruise parking.

Which Galveston Hotels have covered parking?
Having cruised out of galveston for over thirty years. Our departures from galveston on “the Star of Texas” in the mid to late 1980’s proves beyond a doubt that Galveston and Houston have had cruise departures since the early 1980’s. Minimally. The Stella Solaris departed from Galveston in the seventies.
That’s correct. Year-round sailing started back in 2000. Before, there were occasional seasonal cruises.
